CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises.

This qualification is intended to align with the following occupational licencing outcomes:

  • security officer – unarmed guard
  • security officer – crowd controller.

Occupational titles could include:

  • security officer
  • unarmed guard
  • crowd controller

It provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings including, but not limited to:

  • armed guarding
  • cash-in-transit
  • close protection
  • control room operations
  • guard dog handling.

Security officers may work alone or work in a team environment under general supervision, operating with limited autonomy and judgment to complete routine but variable tasks, with some accountability and responsibility for their own outputs, work and learning.

  • Delivery mode - Blended : online knowledge component + face to face classroom training with a combination of theory, practical and/or project assessments
  • Course Duration - 4-6 weeks. 20 days of face to face and distance learning as per licensing requirements.

Entry Requirements
International Students
  • Are over 18 years of age at time of enrolment
  • Must show completion of year 11 or equivalent (subject to the assessment and approval of Australian College of Trade Admission team)
  • Hold an IELTS 6 or higher, or an equivalent level as per other recognised English testing programs (International Students Only)
  • Complete a Pre-Training Review (PTR) to determine eligibility and determination to complete program
  • Are motivated to undertake this course to gain employment in the Hospitality industry and are not involved in a traditional apprenticeship
  • Are wanting to upgrade their existing Qualifications
  • Are Individuals seeking recognition of prior learning/Credit Transfer

Additional support

Australia College of Trade employs staff that are trained in providing first step support where a learner has either a physical or emotional need that requires resolution.
